Seachem Marine Buffer is a scientifically formulated marine additive that has been designed to replicate saltwater ecosystems inside of the aquarium. With ingredients such as sodium, magnesium (to reduce to effects of precipitation), calcium, strontium, potassium salts of carbonate, bicarbonate, chloride, sulfate, and borate (for added stability), this high end blend helps to carefully replicate the delicate parameters found in natural marine environments, allowing your saltwater inhabitants to not just survive, but thrive. The buffer will safely raise pH to 8.3 and will not rise above this specified level even if inadvertently overdosed, giving peace of mind to aquarists everywhere.
Marine Buffer is a professionally blended product and is not composed of simply sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate, which are both commonly sold as a substitutes in lesser products. The solution dissolves quickly and will not cause any cloudiness in the water column in addition to being completely safe for delicate reef aquariums. Comes in a 500 gram container.
Directions:
Add 5 g (1 level teaspoon) for each 80 L (20 US gallons) of aquarium water. Dissolve the mixture in at least one cup of freshwater prior to use. This dosage level will also raise alkalinity by about 1 meq/L. It can be added daily until the pH level has stabilized at 8.3.
This process may take anywhere from one day up to one week, depending on the original pH and alkalinity levels. Thereafter, the buffer can be used biweekly or monthly to maintain an optimal pH level of 8.3. Effectiveness improves with continued use. Do not directly mix with any calcium, magnesium, or strontium supplement.
